What we do
A nonprofit transitional boarding home built for young adults aging out of the foster care system. We provide stable housing, mentorship, life-skills coaching, and wraparound support so every resident can step into adulthood with a foundation under their feet.

Each year, thousands of young adults age out of foster care with no permanent family, no housing, and no plan. The Mack House Boarding Home exists to change that. As a nonprofit, we provide a stable place to live, mentors who show up, and the practical life skills every young adult deserves — so aging out becomes a beginning, not an ending.
We partner with DFCS, Independent Living Program (ILP) workers, schools, employers, and community organizations to build a full circle of support around every resident.
Housing intake

Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood
Federal funding for housing, education, employment, and life skills for youth 14–23 aging out of care.
Education and Training Vouchers (ETV)
Up to $5,000/year for college, trade school, and vocational training for former foster youth.
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — Foster Youth
Foster youth qualify as independent students. Start here for Pell Grants and federal aid.

HUD FYI (Foster Youth to Independence)

Mackhouse Boarding Center campuses
Purpose-built communities — pools, courts, transit, and green space — designed to make housing affordable again for young adults, seniors, and working families.

$700/mo all-inclusive rooms — meals, internet, caregiver & medication assistance. $15 local rides (up to 25 mi). $300 one-way / $400 round-trip long-distance travel (up to 250 mi).
